Kikyz1313 and Rodrigo Cifuentes have both been internationally recognized and gain much popularity in their art. Here they give us a honest and insider look to the realities of both being full time artists.

Located North of CDMX Kikyz1313 and Rodrigo Cifuentes reside in Querétaro with their two adorable cats (the black and white one was more interested in us) and both pursue their careers in art. Rodrigo is an oil painter while Kikyz uses various materials such as graphite, pastels and watercolor. Both are incredibly talented in their own that we decided to try something new with their episode and focus on each person individually while also interviewing them together as a couple. They both gave us great insight into the true nature of being full time artists, watch video below! Enjoy!

Julie Becker is an independent tattoo artist currently living out of an airstream in Joshua Tree, CA. After being in the tattoo industry for over 20 years she’s had to take a step back to better deal with her chronic pain. Under The Canvas wanted to explore how it is for an artist to step back from the workshop but how it has encouraged her to explore new ways of making art.

It’s an artist’s dream to see the walls covered top to bottom in her interpretation of other artist’s work that had made deep impressions on her. Frida Kahlo is the most prominent figure showing up in most aspects of Julie’s artwork along with the name of her Airstream.

Making art is tedious work and physically demanding on the body, it made the most sense to cater the episode around her current struggles with chronic pain and being a tattoo artist. We wanted to focus on how her personal experience has been a constant challenge, but also allowed her to explore other avenues of art. Julie is currently traveling to Spain and New York and is taking clients while she is abroad, please contact her!
